Special Interests

Tropical Medicine

Tropical medicine refers to doctors’ work in Africa and is primarily focused on tropical infectious diseases, including TB, HIV and malaria as well as parasitic infections. Much of practical work is accompanied by clinical case-based discussions and the examinination of contemporary issues in East African healthcare, including the clinical assessment of infants and children, maternal health in resource-limited settings and clinical epidemiology.

Public Health

Public health embraces health systems and policy, social and behavioural change communication, rural health, maternal and child health and occupational hygiene. It also requires comprehensive understanding of health, the health care system and public health problems.
